The 2009 Snowboard Classic was a huge success once again. Watch here next winter for details of next years event.

Last summer we sponsored a free skate camp for both beginner and experienced skateboarders. The camp was organized by the City of Fitchburg’s Recreation and Parks Department, and Eastern Boarder instructors gave the lessons. This year, we are doing it again!

Registration is limited to 30 participants so sign up today. Children should wear athletic, comfortable clothing with sneakers and must wear their own helmet, protective gear and refreshments.

Learn to skateboard! For skaters 6-17

• Monday - Thursday
• Beginners: 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Little to no experienced are welcomed.
• Experienced Boarders: 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. must have at least one year experience.

3 Sessions:

1. July 20th-23rd
2. July 27th-30th
3. August 3rd-6th

Public Safety Awareness Campaign

Community Committed addresses proactive ways to promote public safety at the skatepark.

Community Committed has four objectives:

• Promote safety when participating in skateboarding and other sports by holding Free Helmet Giveaways
• Funding a free skate camp for Fitchburg children and teens with emphasis on the importance of safety while engaging in extreme sports
• Building maintenance and landscaping repairs as well as replacing signs at the park
• Purchase closed circuit video surveillance system to monitor the skate park
